    Salary: The annual salary range for this position is $55,000 - $60,000.

    BACKGROUND

    Palisades Parks Conservancy is the nonprofit partner of the Palisades Interstate Parks system, a network of 21 parks and 8 historic sites as diverse as its users. We partner with the Palisades Interstate Park Commission (PIPC) to protect the natural and historic public lands of the 130,000-acre Palisades Interstate Park system. We are an independent 501c3 that raises funds and advocates for investment and conservation of the parks for future generations. Through partnerships and programs, we expand awareness, access, and usability of public parks for a diverse range of visitors.

    POSITION

    Palisades Parks Conservancy (PPC) is currently seeking a Communications & Engagement Coordinator to support public outreach, digital communications & marketing, donor communications, and general administration. This person will serve as the organization’s first point-of-contact, conducting community outreach and fielding public inquiries.

    Key responsibilities include developing and producing all social media, newsletter, email and website content; supporting donor acknowledgements and board communications, and assistance with program and special events in the parks. This role requires attention to detail, organization, and strong collaboration with team members.

    The Conservancy is a small organization on a growth trajectory. Its current staff includes two full time employees that manage a wide assortment of tasks. The Communications & Engagement Coordinator will have ample opportunity to develop new skills by working on a variety of projects and wearing multiple hats. This is an excellent opportunity for an entrepreneurial and hard-working candidate to develop a new role in our organization.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Digital Communications:

    • Produce social media content, manage social and email content calendar, assist with quarterly email newsletters, maintain and update PPC’s website;
    • Produce fundraising, programming, and event promotion/impact campaigns;
    • Work with team to optimize digital communications processes across all program areas.

    Program Outreach Support:

    • Work with the Program & Development Manager to shape promotion and engagement strategy on public-facing activities in the Palisades parks;
    • Work alongside the team to plan and manage program communications including event promotion, press engagement, and communications with attendees;
    • Research potential community partnership leads and conduct outreach to forge partnerships.

    Fundraising & Board Communications:

    • Compile materials and coordinate materials to execute fundraising campaigns;
    • Assist Program & Development Manager by coordinating grant application materials and submitting grant proposals;
    • Support scheduling, logistics, and material preparations for quarterly board meetings and board committee meetings.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • 2-4 years of experience in communications, marketing, community engagement, fundraising, and/or program management
    • Strong organizational, administrative, interpersonal, and communication skills and ability to set and meet goals
    • Ability to engage with public in-person and online professionally and competently
    • Commitment to transparency, accountability, and direct communication and ability to manage sensitive, confidential information and exercise excellent judgment
    • Familiarity with Google Suite, spreadsheets, Canva/ Adobe CS, Squarespace
    • A driver’s license, access to a car, and comfort taking regular daytrips to locations throughout the Hudson Valley
    • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
    • Passion for nature and the outdoors, familiarity with Hudson Valley parks and public lands is a plus
    • Experience engaging and cultivating relationships with constituents is a plus
    • Spanish or Korean proficiency is a plus
