    Description

    We are seeking a Development Manager (DM) for our client project: HOMES a non-profit organization that uses an all-encompassing approach to housing challenging the misconceptions of what defines affordable housing through the production and preservation of high-quality affordable homes, large-scale home repairs, and improved accessibility and energy efficiency for existing homes.

    This non-supervisory team member is responsible for managing the grant writing and fundraising efforts that support the project:HOMES' privately funded volunteer program. The DM will develop, submit, and track grant applications for corporate and foundation funding; manage donor relations for all non-major gifts; and manage the development database and related functions. The DM will take the lead on fundraising for the volunteer program, which has a budget of $600,000 per year, and will support the Senior Director of Advancement on funding initiatives for general operating support, capacity building, and other program initiatives of approximately $1.2 million per year.

    Summary of Job Responsibilities and Requirements (approx. % of time)

    • Develop, submit, and track results of grant applications to corporate and private foundation funding sources. ~45%
    • Manage donor relations for monthly and individual giving, ensuring appropriate recognition of donor gifts and donor touchpoints throughout the year. ~15%
    • Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of donor and community events. ~10%
    • Provide fundraising content for use in organizational marketing and communications materials, including developing online fundraising campaigns. ~15%
    • Manage donor database and related data.~15%
    • Ensure all activities comply with company policies and values as well as industry standards.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Key Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

    • Bachelor's degree in Communication or English preferred; combination of experience and education will be considered in lieu of formal education.
    • Minimum three years of related experience; non-profit preferred.
    • Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, various teleconferencing platforms, as well as experience with iOS software and other standard office equipment.
    • Promotes and adheres to company's mission, vision and values, policies, and applicable laws in a fair and equitable manner.
    • Represents the organization in a professional manner to all customers, vendors, and internal personnel.
    • Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 9AM to 5PM., in the office, with remote flexibility availability on Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties and business demand.
    • Some local travel throughout the footprint of project: HOMES is required. Access to company vehicle provided.
    • Maintain current Virginia driver's license and clear DMV record.
    • Successfully complete pre-employment background screening.
