    Description

    About Acres4Change

Acres4Change (A4C) is a mission-driven nonprofit committed to increasing land access and ownership for historically marginalized BIPOC farmers in Baltimore. Through our flagship Stewardship Program, we provide hands-on training, leadership development, and a pathway to cooperative land ownership. Our indoor mushroom farm, Charm City Caps, serves as both a learning lab and a revenue-generating enterprise that supports our long-term goal of community-led food sovereignty.

    Position Overview

The Stewardship Program Manager will lead the day-to-day coordination and execution of A4C’s Stewardship Program (15-20 hrs/week) and support operations, marketing, and sales at Charm City Caps Mushroom Farm (5-10 hrs/week). This role is ideal for a highly organized, community-centered leader with experience in program management, food systems, and social impact work. You’ll support a cohort of Stewards, collaborate with interns and volunteers, and help grow the visibility and impact of our mushroom farm.

    Key Responsibilities

    Stewardship Program (15-20 hours/week)

      • Manage program documentation: onboarding forms, schedules, timesheets, evaluations, and grant reports.
      • Facilitate weekly Steward check-ins and team meetings.
      • Coordinate speakers, field trips, and other educational opportunities aligned with the curriculum.
      • Oversee recruitment, interviews, onboarding, and orientation for Stewards, interns, and volunteers.
      • Offer mentorship and logistical support to Stewards and alumni in their land search, site development, and cooperative planning.
      • Compile and submit data, narratives, and surveys for grant proposals and reports.
      • Attend A4C staff meetings and represent A4C at Farm Alliance of Baltimore monthly meetings.
      • Upload photos, videos, and media content to the A4C shared drive for communications and outreach.
      • Perform other duties as needed to support organizational capacity and growth.

Charm City Caps Mushroom Farm (5-10 hours/week)

      • Support weekly cultivation shifts and farm operations in collaboration with Stewards.
      • Work closely with the Mushroom Farm Manager to ensure smooth production, quality control, and adherence to safety protocols.
      • Assist in managing mushroom inventory and shift schedules.
      • Coordinate and support sales and marketing efforts, including managing product listings, developing promotional materials, and sharing updates via social media and newsletters.
      • Represent A4C at farmers’ markets and pop-up events; coordinate sales staffing and logistics as needed.
      • Collect and maintain data on sales and customer feedback for continuous improvement.

    Desired Qualifications

      • 2+ years of experience managing educational, workforce, or community-based programs.
      • Strong facilitation and supervisory skills; experience working with students and volunteers.
      • Working knowledge of sustainable agriculture and food systems (mushroom farming a plus).
      • Familiarity with farmers’ markets, direct sales, and food-based social enterprises.
      • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
      • Proficiency in digital tools: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Drive, spreadsheets, email marketing platforms, Canva, and social media.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
      • Deep alignment with A4C’s mission and values, particularly around racial equity, land justice, and economic self-determination.

    Additional Requirements

      • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
      • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle.
      • Must reside in Baltimore City or within a 30-minute drive (approximately 20 miles) of the city.
