School Partnerships Manager

Position Overview

Commonwealth Club World Affairs (CCWA) seeks a dynamic, passionate educator to serve as School Partnerships Manager for our thriving civics education initiative, Creating Citizens. This is a great fit for someone who believes in the power of civil dialogue to inform and inspire the next generation of civic leaders at home and abroad. The School Partnerships Manager is responsible for implementing a well-coordinated strategy to provide resources for students and educators in middle school through college. They will lead our successful School Field Trip and Meet the Speaker programs; expand our college campus speaker series; maintain current programming and audience development initiatives; and cultivate an extensive network of school partners, prioritizing underserved and economically disadvantaged communities. As part of a small and collaborative team, this position will act to advance the mission and goals of Creating Citizens and will work collegially and respectfully with peers throughout CCWA, interns, volunteers, and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Program Leadership

• Lead development and production of interactive educational programs, with relevant topics and speakers for student and educator audiences
• Establish learning goals and design pedagogical approaches aligned with strategic priorities
• Cultivate a speaker network of local and national leaders with expertise in relevant areas such as civics, public policy, and civics education
• Track outcomes and measure program impact to inform decision making

Audience Development and Partnership Cultivation

• Maintain and strengthen existing partner relationships while identifying and developing new partnerships to expand reach and broaden impact
• Expand programmatic collaborations at local colleges and universities
• Represent Creating Citizens in key networks and convenings
• Collaborate with teams throughout CCWA to develop opportunities for youth engagement, including membership, travel, and program participation

Operations and Management

• Provide direction to student interns
• Conduct program marketing and outreach
• Maintain program budgets, materials, and supplies
• Maintain accurate records and data
• Communicate with all stakeholders with confidence, respect, and tact
• Complete all assignments accurately, thoroughly, on deadline, and within budget
• Contribute to fundraising efforts and donor stewardship as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Necessary Qualifications and Skills

• Experience leading interactive student-focused learning experiences; strong presence when teaching or leading a group
• Experience producing and managing live events, preferably in education or youth settings
• Established relationships within the Bay Area education community, or demonstrated ability to build and sustain these
• Familiarity with California state content standards and other recognized frameworks for civics, history-social science, and related disciplines
• Knowledge of K-12 education systems, practices, and policies
• Must be able to communicate effectively with educators and administrators and understand their priorities and needs
• Track record of successful collaborations with civic and community leaders
• Outstanding written and oral communications
• Experience managing project budgets

Desired Credentials:

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in education, political science, history-social studies, or related fields
• Minimum 3 years’ professional experience teaching or leading programs in formal or informal education settings such as K-12 schools, after-school programs, or youth service nonprofits
• Specific experience with civics or democracy education a plus

Compensation

$65-$75,000, depending on experience. This is a full-time exempt position with benefits, including paid employee health, vision, dental, life, and AD&D, a generous holiday and time-off policy, and a team full of interesting and warm people to work with.
