The Healthcare Anchor Network (HAN) is a national collaboration of more than 75 leading healthcare systems building more inclusive and sustainable local economies. HAN defines three core strategies for health systems as anchor institutions to maximize their community impact: place-based investing, impact purchasing, and impact workforce. Taken together, these strategies form the core of the anchor mission framework that activate what we believe are their most powerful assets for promoting inclusive local economies and thriving communities.
HAN mobilizes health systems to adopt the anchor mission by providing them a strategic framework and collaborative space to implement and scale these strategies. As a national convener, HAN builds an anchor mission movement by setting institutional standards through leadership commitments, documenting and disseminating best practices, consulting on strategy, capturing sector data, and curating forums for peer learning and collaboration.
