    Description

    New York Disaster Interfaith Services (NYDIS), a 501(c)(3) non-profit faith-based federation of faith communities, human services providers, and charitable organizations, works in partnership to provide disaster readiness, response, and recovery services to New York City. the Metro-Region and Puerto Rico.

    The Director will lead all day-to-day operations, partnerships, planning, and strategic oversight of a new Food Bank & Humanitarian Hub (the Hub), a partnership between NYDIS and Islamic Relief USA. Supporting the NYC house of worship-based pantries and clothing closets as well as other disaster related and direct service programs, the Director will oversee operations of a 30,000+ square-foot warehouse and distribution center for food, clothing, emergency supplies, shelter supplies, and a vehicle pool directing related logistics for all programs. The Director is responsible for program oversight and implementation, donations/procurement, food storage/transport regulations, staff and volunteers, budget management, community and interfaith partnerships, and performance outcomes. This role serves as the public face of the Hub and will collaborate closely with Executive Staff at NYDIS and IRUSA as well as other partner agencies to ensure successful execution of the Hub’s mission.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead overall management and strategic execution of the Hub’s day-to-day operations.
    • Supervise warehouse staff including Logistics Manager, Donations Management, Maintenance, Drivers, and Volunteers.
    • Oversee budget planning, expense tracking, grant compliance, and reporting.
    • Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with community organizations, government agencies, and funders.
    • Monitor and evaluate program impact across food security, clothing distribution, and emergency response readiness.
    • Support implementation of trauma-informed workforce development initiatives for individuals with serious mental illness and/or returning from incarceration.
    • Ensure compliance with Food Safety and health related regulations, OSHA and all NYC building/fire codes
    • Provide support and technical assistance to house of worship-based food pantries and clothing closets.
    • Manage all donor relations and oversight of inventory intake and distribution as well as operating best practices.
    • Represent NYDIS in local, regional and national food and donations management networks and at sector events.
    • Drive long-term planning for social enterprise growth, volunteer expansion, and sustainability efforts.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree Required.
    • 5+ years of progressively responsible nonprofit leadership experience, preferably in donations management, food bank operations, logistics, or disaster emergency response – including donor/partner relations.
    • Expert knowledge of food/clothing distribution networks, workforce development, and nonprofit compliance.
    • Commitment to interfaith collaboration and NYDIS’s mission of dignity-centered humanitarian response.
    • Exceptional management, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
    • Demonstrated success in managing cross-functional teams of 10+ staff and large-scale service operations.
    • Documented experience with government and philanthropic grant reporting and contract oversight.
    • Bilingual preferred.
