    What will you be doing?

    This role will build a comprehensive data-driven strategy that is balanced with a focus on relationship-building and storytelling to amplify donor engagement and uplift the philanthropic capacity of all constituents, identifying areas for growth and developing strategies to engage staff, board, volunteers, and donors at all levels. In addition to carrying a personal portfolio of donors, the position will partner with the Executive Director to engage, cultivate, and solicit top donors and prospects that include some of the most influential philanthropists and funders in the community. You will not only drive revenue growth but will also play a critical role in shaping PPMF’s overall direction and long-term sustainability as the organization embarks on its next phase of serving a thriving Pike Place Market community!

    Strategy

    • Set and drive the strategic direction for philanthropy at PPMF, ensuring fundraising efforts align with the organization’s growth trajectory and long-term sustainability
    • Develop and refine fundraising strategy, ensuring systems, processes, and infrastructure are aligned
    • Ensure data-driven decision-making and accurate forecasting, leveraging Virtuous and other tools to track progress, analyze trends, and optimize donor engagement
    • Strengthen internal alignment on fundraising efforts, working cross-functionally to integrate development priorities into broader organizational goals
    • Advocate for the Development team’s needs—ensuring coordinated messaging, appropriate resourcing, and professional development opportunities
    • Assess readiness for a major fundraising campaign and, if appropriate, lead planning and execution

    Fundraising

    • Personally carry and grow a portfolio of major donors, institutional funders, and corporate partners, leading by example in frontline fundraising
    • Develop and activate a compelling case for support, ensuring PPMF’s value proposition is clearly communicated to donors and partners
    • Expand and diversify revenue streams, with a focus on raising major gifts
    • Build and implement a disciplined moves management strategy to deepen donor relationships and grow fundraising
    • Strengthen and elevate fundraising operations, ensuring best-in-class systems, reporting, and performance metrics
    • Equip and support the board’s fundraising engagement, providing the structure, training, and tools they need to be effective ambassadors and fundraisers

    Marketing and Communications

    • Provide strategic oversight for all branding, marketing, and communications activities
    • Supervise the Marketing staff to develop content strategies, campaigns, and messaging
    • Ensure consistency in voice, tone, and messaging across digital, print, and in-person channels
    • Oversee public relations efforts and crisis communication planning
    • Website and social media oversight

    Leadership

    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing development team, fostering an inclusive and equitable team culture that values collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
    • Partner closely with the Deputy Director and Executive Director to align fundraising with organizational priorities and maximize donor engagement
    • Engage with staff leadership team and board to provide a fundraising perspective in key decision-making and help shape overall organizational strategy
    • Model transparent and direct communication, ensuring alignment across teams and promoting a culture of trust and accountability
    • Create a work environment that values focus time and workflow efficiency, ensuring staff have the space to execute high-impact work

    What you need to succeed?

    • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in advancement as both a senior level manager with a record of accomplishment leading a large team, and as a frontline gift officer
    • Proven success leading a development operation raising $5M-$10M+ annually, with expertise scaling and diversifying revenue streams
    • Experience leading the day-to-day functioning of a department, effectively supervising staff
    • Creating and managing complex budgets, forecasts, and reporting
    • Prior experience managing a capital campaign preferred
    • The ability to integrate fundraising into overall organizational strategy, elevate systems and processes, and drive long-term growth
    • Personal track record of securing, at a minimum, six-figure gifts from high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and corporate partners
    • Strong skills in CRM and data analysis, using insights to inform fundraising strategy and optimize donor engagement
    • A directive, supportive, and inclusive leader who sets clear expectations, fosters a culture of performance, and develops talent
    • A confident and compelling communicator with strong public speaking and storytelling skills
    • A commitment to social justice, racial equity, and intersectional practice with experience executing those values through your work
    • A keen understanding of one’s own race, culture, and identity and how it fits into the staff and client environment, as well as the world at large

The salary range may be inclusive of several career levels and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate's experience, skills and qualifications.
