    Description

    The Community Food Program Coordinator (CFC) is based at A Place To Turn and reports directly to the Executive Director. The CFC will work with multiple social service agencies in the region to design and evaluate a new initiative. The goal of which is to expand access to healthy food to those in need of assistance but experiencing barriers to using existing services. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, independent professional to build a community program from the ground up, in close collaboration with community partners.

    Tasks and Responsibilities

    • Build strong working relationships with community partners.
    • Work with community partners to develop an action plan to increase food distribution to those experiencing the greatest barriers to accessing healthy food.
    • Develop an understanding of the food systems in the region with a focus on the opportunities and challenges for those experiencing barriers to food access.
    • Assess gaps in food assistance services in the region.
    • Identify best practices in the region and other places.
    • Convene partners regularly, including planning and facilitating meetings.
    • Manage pilot interventions and evaluate results.
    • Work closely with the staff at A Place To Turn and help with pantry operations when needed.

    Experience, Skills and Attributes

    • Passion for working to solve food insecurity.
    • Ability to design and evaluate a program with input from all stakeholders.
    • Experience in community organizing and leading projects with multiple partners.
    • Working knowledge of issues of food insecurity, health equity, and food systems in the MetroWest region.
    • Strong writing and communication skills.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and experience managing group dynamics.
    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and/or at least 5 years of relevant experience.
    • Bi-lingual (Spanish or Portuguese) preferred.
