    JOB ANNOUNCEMENT: GRANTS COORDINATOR

    North Bay Jobs with Justice (NBJwJ) is seeking a qualified candidate for this position. Position open until filled.

    NBJwJ is a grassroots coalition of community and labor organizations building power and winning economic and racial justice on the frontlines of climate change in Sonoma, Napa and Marin Counties. NBJwJ is currently leading a multi-year strategic campaign in Sonoma County to improve the working conditions of immigrant and Indigenous farmworkers while also developing good off-season jobs in climate resilience work rooted in the workers’ own traditional ecological knowledge (TEK). We are affiliated with National Jobs with Justice and based in Santa Rosa, CA.

    Position Summary:

    The Grants Coordinator is responsible for identifying, securing, and managing public and philanthropic funding to support NBJwJ’s programs and campaigns. This role leads all aspects of grant development and compliance, while also supporting general fundraising and donor engagement, including NBJwJ’s monthly sustainer program and annual fundraiser. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and committed to social, racial, and economic justice. The Grants Coordinator reports to the Just Transition Lead, with priority issues and campaigns set by the Executive Director and Executive Board.

    General Responsibilities of the Grants Coordinator:

    • Identify public and philanthropic funding opportunities through independent research, attending events and webinars, and communicating with partners
    • Organize, draft and manage grant proposals, collaborating with staff and partner organizations to vet projects and develop successful and timely submissions
    • Work with the Just Transition Lead to oversee all grant awards; manage deadlines and reporting requirements; track expenses and manage budgets; request and assemble financial documentation; track program data; fulfill all reporting requirements
    • Lead all aspects of compliance with grant terms as well as state and federal regulations
    • Work with bookkeeper on financial reporting and compliance related to grants
    • Engage monthly sustainer program
    • Maintain databases of current and prospective funders and grants
    • Assist with annual fundraiser, specifically management of sponsors and donors

    Key Qualities and Competencies:

    • 3 years of relevant experience in grant prospecting, writing and management; budget management; or similar
    • Strong commitment to worker justice and the labor movement, gender and racial justice, immigrant justice, climate justice, and an intersectional social movement
    • Ability to work effectively & collaboratively within working class, BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities
    • Trustworthy and transparent
    • Strong written and oral communication skills, multilingual including Spanish and/or Indigenous languages is ideal
    • Effective time management skills with proven track record of developing, managing and being accountable to deadlines
    • Proficient with standard applications including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) and Google (Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Calendar), Adobe Acrobat, Canva, etc.
    • Willingness to attend or facilitate occasional worker-led meetings and events on evenings and weekends
    • Willingness to travel throughout Sonoma, Marin, and Napa Counties and occasional travel to San Francisco and Oakland. Must have valid driver’s license and proof of car insurance by job start date

    Additional Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience, education, and/or familiarity with climate resilience, vegetation management, restoration, and/or prescribed fire
    • Experience managing state grants, government contracts, or other public funding sources
    • An understanding of the ecology of the North Bay

    Compensation

    Salary commensurate with experience, $75,126.25 to $84,997.86 with annual raises and cost of living adjustments; fully paid health, vision and dental benefits; retirement benefits; paid leave, vacation and sick time; 13 paid holidays; cell phone allowance. This is a Union represented position with Teamsters Local 665.
