    About Rescuing Leftover Cuisine (RLC)

    Rescuing Leftover Cuisine (RLC) is a national 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to redistributing excess food from businesses to nonprofits serving people experiencing food insecurity. We work alongside our dedicated network of food rescuers and partner with organizations of all sizes and sectors to repurpose surplus ranging from as little as 5 pounds to as much as 500+ pallets. Our mission is to reduce food waste, promote sustainability, and enhance food security. Since RLC was founded in 2013, we’ve rescued over 17 million pounds of food, prevented 37M+ pounds of emissions, and provided 13M+ meals to communities in need.

    The Position

    RLC is seeking a highly motivated and versatile Finance & Business Development Manager to support our growth and sustainability. This is a hybrid role that combines operational financial management with entrepreneurial revenue generation. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable managing cash flow and building strategic partnerships and thrives in a mission-driven, fast-paced environment.

    Responsibilities

    Finance (50%)

    • Lead monthly financial reporting, including P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow forecasts
    • Support budgeting, scenario modeling, and grant financial tracking
    • Oversee accounts receivable and payable processes, and liaise with external accountants or auditors
    • Develop and refine internal financial processes and systems for scalability
    • Coordinate financial aspects of earned revenue programs (e.g., catering, corporate volunteer events, tours)
    • Contribute to dashboards and internal reporting for KPIs and strategic decisions

    Business Development & Strategic Growth (50%)

    • Identify and cultivate revenue-generating opportunities, including sponsorships, earned income, and corporate partnerships
    • Build and maintain CRM entries and pipelines for prospective partners and funders
    • Develop presentations, one-pagers, and pitch decks for potential donors and clients
    • Support proposals for grants, events, and fundraising campaigns with financial modeling
    • Collaborate cross-functionally with programs and marketing to create revenue-aligned initiatives
    • Stay on top of industry trends in nonprofit finance, food rescue, and social enterprise

    Qualifications

    • 3–6 years of experience in finance, business development, consulting, or a relevant nonprofit hybrid role
    • Strong proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets; experience with QuickBooks, Salesforce, or similar systems a plus
    • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with attention to detail
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Entrepreneurial mindset, with a proven ability to take initiative and execute projects independently
    • Passion for food justice, sustainability, and systems-level change

    Preferred But Not Required

    • Prior experience in a nonprofit, startup, or social enterprise
    • Familiarity with carbon credits, food waste regulation, or CSR partnerships
    • Experience with grant compliance and/or federal reporting

    Total Compensation

    • Competitive salary: $60,000 per year.
