    Description

Education Through Music (ETM) is a nonprofit organization that partners with New York City public schools to provide high-quality music education to over 18,000 underserved students across all five boroughs. We build music programs that support underserved students’ social-emotional well-being and academic success, while also creating pathways for music educators to thrive in under-resourced public schools.

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented, systems driven Development Manager with a strong understanding of Salesforce, donor stewardship, and event management to strengthen our fundraising efforts and ensure seamless donation tracking and moves management processes. This role is ideal for a relationship-driven professional who thrives in organized, mission-focused environments.

Under the oversight of the Senior Director of Development, the Development Manager will help implement Education Through Music’s (ETM) in-person and virtual cultivation and fundraising events, including ETM’s annual Gala and other major functions. The Manager will support effective stewardship and donor relations with individuals and organizations supporting ETM through events or other solicitations.

This is a full-time position, and the team is expected to be in the office three days a week with two remote days. A four-day week could be considered for the right experienced professional. Salary includes benefits and offers a flexible schedule to support work-life balance.

    Key Responsibilities

    Donor Stewardship & Relationship Management

    • Support the Executive Director and Senior Director of Development in managing their portfolio of individual and corporate donors, ensuring timely acknowledgments, personalized touchpoints, and cultivation strategies that deepen engagement.
    • Serve as an external representative of ETM at events, concerts, and school site visits.
    • Support the Senior Director of Development and Board members in their fundraising outreach, solicitation efforts, and relationship tracking.
    • Build systems that will grow an individual giving pipeline, conducting prospect research to identify and prioritize new donors while maintaining and cultivating existing donors.

    Salesforce & Systems Management

    • Maintain and enhance Salesforce CRM systems to track donations, donor interactions, moves management, and event participation. Must be able to create reports and pull segmented lists.
    • Develop reports and dashboards to support strategic decision-making and ensure data integrity.
    • Bring a systems thinking approach to improve processes, workflows, and pipeline management.

    Event Management

    • Plan and execute donor cultivation and fundraising events, in collaboration with the Senior Director of Development and events team, including the annual Gala, Golf Outing, and Women’s Luncheon.
    • Lead the planning and execution of smaller stewardship events in collaboration with our Engagement Council, Board, sponsors, honorees, performers, vendors, and corporate volunteers.
    • Lead and coordinate event logistics, timelines, budgets, and vendor relationships.
    • Support post-event follow-up, including thank you email blasts and evaluation to maximize donor retention and engagement.

    Development Operations & Writing

    • Oversee the development calendar with a focus on donor outreach, meetings, site visits, and communications.
    • Manage gift processing, acknowledgments, fulfillment, and donor recognition programs.
    • Draft compelling donor communications, stewardship materials, and event collateral with clarity, warmth, and precision.
    • Collaborate with the communications team on fundraising campaigns and donor-facing materials.

This is a hybrid work environment based in New York City, and ETM offers flexibility for the right candidate to ensure work-life balance and productivity. This position requires being able to manage and attend events that may be outside of regular office hours.

This role is externally facing, requiring strong relationship management skills to engage donors, board members, and event partners confidently and professionally. The ideal candidate will also be a strong writer, capable of drafting compelling donor communications, stewardship materials, and event collateral with clarity and precision.

Please note: Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship. Education Through Music is committed to building a diverse and inclusive team and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
