    Position Summary:

    The Communications Manager will play a pivotal role in executing PHA's communications strategy to support policy campaigns, mobilize communities, and elevate narratives that inspire decision-makers and funders. While the position supports organization-wide priorities, they will primarily focus on All Children Thrive—PHA’s signature initiative advancing trauma-informed policies for youth across 30+ California communities. Reporting to the Director of Advocacy Communications, the Communications Manager will collaborate closely with program staff to develop and disseminate compelling content across various platforms, ensuring consistency and alignment with PHA's mission and values.

    Key Responsibilities:

      • Policy Campaign Support: Collaborate with Director of Advocacy Communications, Executive Team, and program teams to develop strategic communications campaigns that help win policy change, including crafting messaging, talking points, and promotional materials.
      • Content Development: Develop and manage compelling content for PHA’s digital platforms—including the website, social media, newsletters, email campaigns, and fundraising materials—to elevate All Children Thrive California (ACT), the First Response Transformation Campaign, San Joaquin County initiatives, and PHA’s broader organizational work.
      • Media Relations: Support the development of press materials, coordinate media outreach, and help cultivate relationships with journalists to secure meaningful coverage of ACT and PHA’s impact.
      • Staff and Community Member Training: Develop resources and facilitate trainings for staff and community members to build their capacities to develop and implement effective communications strategies.
      • Brand Consistency: Ensure all communications materials adhere to PHA’s brand guidelines, maintaining a cohesive and recognizable organizational voice across all channels.
      • Analytics and Reporting: Monitor and analyze the performance of communication efforts using tools like Google Analytics and social media insights to inform strategy and improve engagement.
      • Event Promotion: Support the promotion of PHA events, including webinars, workshops, and community gatherings, by creating promotional materials and coordinating outreach efforts.

    Qualifications:

      • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a communications role within a nonprofit, advocacy, or public interest organization, with a focus on content creation and media relations.
      • Skills: Strong writing and editing skills, proficiency in digital communication tools (e.g., CMS platforms, email marketing software, social media management tools), and familiarity with design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
      • Mission Alignment: Demonstrated commitment to health equity, racial justice, and community empowerment.
      • Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external partners, managing multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
      • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a dynamic environment, responding to emerging opportunities, and identifying workarounds for challenges with creativity and initiative.

    LOCATION, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

    PHA is a remote organization. Employees must reside in California. Occasional in-person travel required, particularly in Sacramento, Stockton, and key partner cities.

    Compensation:

    $75,000–$83,000 depending on experience.
