Lead Organizer - Evolve Altadena

The Lead Organizer is responsible for building a conscious base of Altadena residents, Eaton Mega-fire impacted people and allies to move forward Evolve Altadena’s purpose and goals. This includes on-the-block organizing and member development, representing Evolve Altadena in coalitions, writing, communications and administration.

The ideal candidate will be someone with a strong base building and outreach background and who is able to adapt to new conditions, jump in to support in different capacities, believes deeply in self-determination and community power, and who embodies a commitment to both personal and systemic transformation. They must be deeply committed to fighting climate catastrophe, building and evolving anti-oppression and ecological consciousness, and protecting Black home ownership, residency, and the homes and businesses of other peoples of color in Altadena.

Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a range of base-building and community and/or labor organizing strategies and tactics as well as a minimum of 2–3 years of professional experience in administration and/or marketing/strategic communications or related area of expertise for a small to medium-sized nonprofit organization, educational institution, or other office-based business.

The majority of the work is location based in Altadena, CA. The Lead Organizer must live in or around Altadena, CA (15 mile radius). If not, they must be willing to relocate to Altadena or the surrounding area. Evolve Altadena is not able to assist with relocation costs.
