    Job title: Youth and Community Programs Coordinator

    Classification: Full-time, nonexempt position: 40 hours

    Location: Principally based at Creativity Explored, 3245 16th Street in San Francisco, and Creativity Explored II, One Arkansas Street, with regular visits to other CE locations

    Reports to: Youth and Community Programs Manager

    ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

    Creativity Explored is a San Francisco nonprofit that partners with people with developmental disabilities to create an artistic, studio-based collective where the creative capacity of any person can flourish. We do this by placing the work, needs, culture, and experience of artists with developmental disabilities at the center of the community in a way that honors humanity, respects self-agency, and nurtures creative potential.

    POSITION OVERVIEW

    CE’s Youth and Community Programs Coordinator will help coordinate and implement arts programming for youth and young adults as part of CE’s new and growing Youth and Community Programs team. The Youth and Community Programs Coordinator will coordinate youth and TAY (Transition Aged Youth, 18-24 year olds) art programs, K–TAY school workshops, field trips, and professional development sessions. They will also support communication with families and schools, manage scheduling and supplies, and help develop and deliver inclusive arts education curriculum.

    Areas of oversight include:

    • Youth and TAY art programs
    • School partnerships and community outreach
    • Curriculum development and arts facilitation

    The Youth and Community Programs Coordinator will work with families, educators, partner organizations, and community institutions.

    The Youth and Community Programs Coordinator also works collaboratively with the Adult Studio Program, CE Youth and Adult teaching artists and Youth Program Associates, and the Development and Finance teams on programming, reporting, and evaluation projects.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Program Coordination

    • Support the Youth and Community Programs Manager in meeting annual program targets across youth and TAY art programs, K–TAY school workshops, field trips, and professional development sessions
    • Communicate with families to onboard new participants and respond to program questions or concerns, escalating to Youth and Community Programs Manager when appropriate
    • Coordinate with community partners to schedule field trips, classroom workshops, and assemblies
    • Understand grant requirements for assigned programs and help ensure program objectives are met
    • Assist with scheduling across all program activities, including partner meetings, workshops, and staff check-ins
    • Source and maintain needed program supplies
    • Collect and evaluate participant and partner feedback for continuous improvement

    Administrative Tasks and Reporting

    • Track and submit program data and participation numbers for internal and funder reports
    • Support grant reporting by providing activity descriptions and demographic data
    • Maintain organized and confidential documentation of participant information
    • Submit financial and attendance data to the Development and Finance teams as needed

    Arts Education and Outreach

    • Help develop, document, and implement inclusive arts curricula aligned with CE’s core values
    • Facilitate art workshops for young people both on- and off-site
    • Train CE staff to implement the curriculum and tailor it to specific age groups and disabilities
    • Work with CE adult artists to provide quality inclusion opportunities as associate teachers and mentors
    • Lead tours, workshops, and community engagements for community partners

    Organizational Relationships

    The Youth and Community Programs Coordinator is expected to work productively in a team environment and to foster open communication with staff across the organization to produce communications that support the organization’s mission and goals. They are also expected to work towards embodying the four components of CE's Staff Philosophy: Community, Creativity, Collaboration, and Compassion.

    Compliance with Policies and Procedures

    The Youth and Community Programs Coordinator will comply with established Creativity Explored policies and practices.

    KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

    • Associate degree, Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience in a related field such as education or fine arts
    • A strong connection with CE’s mission, including the ability to advocate for CE’s artists' self-identified needs
    • Two-plus years of teaching artist experience
    • One-plus year of education program coordination experience preferred
    • Comfortable working independently and with a team, with demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people
    • Highly organized and motivated
    • Creative thinker and problem solver with attention to detail
    • Demonstrated experience managing projects involving coordination between multiple business entities
    • Interest, enthusiasm, and affinity for Creativity Explored’s mission
    • Outstanding interpersonal and verbal communication skills
    • Enthusiasm to learn from and advocate for developmentally disabled people
    • Experience with Google Suite (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Drive) preferred
    • Access to a vehicle is preferred at least once a week, along with a valid US driver's license

    TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

    • Complete and maintain CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (initial certification to be completed within 30 days of date of hire)
    • Workplace Harassment Training
    • Complete Creativity Explored staff training pertinent to the position's job responsibilities as assigned

    Creativity Explored requires all staff to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and provide proof of vaccination upon hire.
