    About Us

Altai Blue Horizon is a Swiss-Mongolian nonprofit organisation working to improve education in Bayan-Ulgii Province. This remote region in the Altai Mountains is home to a predominantly Kazakh community, where many families face limited access to quality education and public services. Schools often lack resources, and rural areas struggle to keep up with educational standards found in larger cities.

    Our Team:

Our team includes volunteers and friends from Mongolia, Switzerland, Algeria, and Portugal. Local members bring deep knowledge of the cultural and social context, while international volunteers offer fresh perspectives and expertise. This blend of local and global input helps us create practical and effective educational programmes.

    Local Collaboration:

We work closely with public schools, local authorities, and families in Ulgii town and rural villages. Our partnerships with schools allow us to provide targeted support, from teaching materials to teacher training. We also involve local student volunteers and hire local teachers, contributing to the region's economy and fostering a sense of community ownership.

    Our Approach:

    • Community-Led Initiatives: We listen to local educators and parents to develop programmes that meet real needs.
    • Long-Term Focus: We aim to make a lasting difference by improving teaching practices and supplying durable educational resources.
    • Inclusive Support: Our programmes prioritise children from low-income families and those with disabilities, ensuring no one is left behind.

Altai Blue Horizon is not just about education but about building stronger communities and offering real opportunities to children who need them most. We believe that connecting local knowledge with international support can create meaningful and lasting change.
