No medical background is necessary to become a Gentiva hospice volunteer. The program provides comprehensive training covering topics such as hospice philosophy, grief counseling, communication skills, and patient privacy regulations. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and complete a background check, drug screening, TB test—all provided at no cost.
