    About Us

AARP Foundation Experience Corps is a data driven, proven program, made up of volunteers dedicated to helping children become great readers before finishing third grade. Working collaboratively with teachers and other volunteers, you can change the course of a child's life by sharing your wisdom and experience.

During 2020-21 due to COVID - 19 AARP Foundation Experience Corps DC pivoted the program by serving several schools and students virtually. While we can not fully anticipate what tutoring will look like during the 2021-22 school year, we are recruiting volunteers to begin the school year tutoring virtually with the anticipation and expectation that volunteers will return safely to the classrooms before the year's end. Experience Corps seeks literacy tutors/mentors who are comfortable with the use of a computer, enjoy working with children.

You must be: 50 years of age or older, Possess a GED or High School diploma, at minimum, Pass a required background check, Attend two day pre-service training, Commit to 5 to 15 hours per week - 2 to 3 day per week for the full school year.

We are currently seeking volunteers for the 2021-22 school year! If you are ready to guide the next generation of readers, please contact us at 202-434-6349.
