El Pueblo is a program of Seashore Mission, Inc. The mission of Seashore Mission is to create a community of hospitality by offering refuge and restoration on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. We envision a community of hospitality and healing where there is hope for the hopeless, peace for the weary, and refuge for all. The mission of our El Pueblo Program is to be a force for justice and compassion for immigrants.
El Pueblo is a force for justice and compassion for the Hispanic/Latino immigrants on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, offering programs and services that EMPOWER HISPANIC/LATINO IMMIGRANTS to speak on their own behalf, access vitally important means to legalization, build leadership and community, and engage in civic life, and; CHANGING THE HEARTS AND MINDS OF THE LARGER COMMUNITY by educating Gulf Coast citizens on the reality of the immigrant experience.
We have an immigration attorney on staff, we are recognized and accredited by the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) to provide professional immigration legal services, and we are a member of the American Immigration Lawyer's Association (AILA) and the Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. (CLINIC). The majority of our legal cases are humanitarian-based.
Other services and programs include translation and interpretation services, English as a Second Language (ESL) and citizenship instruction, a family literacy program, and women's empowerment and crisis intervention.
