  • Mission

Our mission is to help as many economically disadvantaged kids as possible experience high quality and effective social-emotional learning (SEL). We work toward this aim because research shows that strong social-emotional skills are key to helping kids succeed in school, be prepared for the workforce, and become positive and healthy contributors to society.

    About Us

Now in our 20th year of operation, WINGS for kids serves almost 700 kids each day afterschool in Metro Atlanta. We work in five schools in South Fulton County and the City of Atlanta. Our innovative programming uses an activity-based curriculum to teach kids the five social and emotional competencies--responsible decision-making, self-management, self-awareness, social awareness, and relationship skills--through fun and engaging activities. Success in the 21st Century classroom, workforce, and life require strong interpersonal skills and the internal fortitude to overcome obstacles. Recent research proves that SEL skills developed early in life provide a strong foundation for later success. WINGS is the only U.S. organization focused solely on developing and improving social-emotional skills within after school programming.
