IPHI is one of 44 members of the National Network of Public Health Institutes (NNPHI) and the official public health institute serving Virginia, the District of Columbia, and Maryland. IPHI creates partnerships across sectors and cultivates innovative solutions that improve health and well-being for all populations and communities, especially those most affected by health inequities. Our work strengthens health service systems and public policy; enhances the environments and conditions in which people live, age, work, learn, and play; and builds organizational and community capacity to sustain progress. IPHI’s roles in our region include: designing, implementing and evaluating public health programs; providing technical assistance to community organizations and government; training the community health workforce; facilitating coordination and planning across sectors and jurisdictions; advocating for effective public policy; and conducting independent research and evaluation. Launched in 2009, IPHI has an operating budget of approximately $3M with 36 staff and a broad portfolio of programs.
