Fabretto Children's Foundation
The beautiful country of Nicaragua – with its awe-inspiring volcanoes, lakes, and pristine beaches - is also burdened with extreme poverty, food insecurity and a weak educational system. Fabretto Children’s Foundation envisions a prosperous Nicaragua where all children have meaningful opportunities to grow and learn. Inspired by the legacy of Padre Fabretto, the organization’s mission is to empower underserved children and their families in Nicaragua to reach their full potential, improve their livelihoods, and take advantage of economic opportunity through education and nutrition. This mission is achieved through five strategic program areas: early and primary education enrichment, rural secondary education, vocational and life skills education, community well-being and development, and food security and nutrition.
For more than 50 years, Fabretto has built relationships within the Nicaraguan urban and rural communities it serves to provide hope and a better future to children in need. Today, the organization supports over 12,500 children through seven Fabretto-owned centers and, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, more than 100 public schools. Despite dramatic growth in the numbers of children served, staff size, and program offerings in recent years, the need for Fabretto’s programs continues to expand. Fabretto currently expends approximately $4.5M annually in program and fundraising/ administrative costs. The majority of the budget is raised in the US through foundation, corporate, US government and individual sources. To ensure Fabretto’s ongoing impact, the organization must sustain as well expand and increase its funding sources.
