SF Housing Action Coalition
The San Francisco Housing Action Coalition (SFHAC) was founded in 1999 at the height of the first http://dot.comdotcom boom. The goal was to have a group of pro-housing advocates that could provide the political muscle to help get important policies enacted. We began as a purely volunteered-based organization, with only a handful of members. But we have grown over time and now have three, full-time staff and 300 members representing a diverse range of businesses, organizations and individuals.
The SFHAC has become a reliable voice supporting smart growth, transit-oriented development and, especially, more solutions for housing affordability. We have found that by balancing competing factions and searching for middle ground, we can make significant impacts on land use decisions.
