    Description

    Teaching Experience Opportunity - Elementary, Sunday School

    Washington Community Fellowship in Capitol Hill is seeking enthusiastic volunteer Sunday School teachers for the 2025-2026 teaching year. Make friends, gain experience, and be a part of a movement to champion for the children in this vibrant community!

    Classes are held weekly from September through June at 9:30am. No professional teaching experience required - training is included!

    If you are eager to gain experience working with children and youth in an upbeat and positive environment, we welcome your application of interest.

    Responsibilities:

    -Arrive on time (9 am) and stay through the duration of class time (10:30 am) (1.5 hours total)

    -Welcome children and sign them into class

    -Follow established curriculum (there is ample opportunity to collaborate and create special lesson plans)

    -Ability to listen and hold conversations with young people

    -Take brief notes after classes and communicate with the Children's Ministry Coordinator

    Frequency: 2 Sundays per month minimum

    Requirements:

    -Background check (standard for working with children- WCF will run the background check on your behalf)

    -Highschool diploma, some college preferred

    -Interest working in education setting

    -Individuals pursuing a degree program in education or related field will be shown preference

    -Attend teacher training session

    -Attend teacher orientation session (1)

    Teacher training sessions begin July 20th and run through August 29th. You only need to attend one teacher training session. Teacher orientation is held the first week of September.
