HIAS Pennsylvania is a local nonprofit that provides legal and social services to refugees, asylum-seekers, and low-income immigrants as they build their new lives in our community. We are looking for volunteers to provide document translation, virtual interpretation, and in-person interpretation on an as-needed basis. Languages include Arabic, Pashto, Dari, Urdu, Farsi, Swahili, Russian, Ukrainian, Haitian Creole, Tigrinya, Rohingya and Burmese. Note for French and Spanish we can only accept IN PERSON in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Once you complete our intake process, you can indicate your preferences/availability. We would then add you to a list, and then staff would reach out with requests that could occur all around the city. No specialized vocabulary is required, and there is no minimum time commitment - you can just respond when you are able! For more information, go to www.hiaspa.org/volunteer or contact Jeffrey at community@hiaspa.org.
