    Description

Board of Directors - Membership Program Committee Chair

The International Ocean Film Foundation (IOFF) is recruiting for a Membership Program Committee Chair to oversee all marketing and communication channels to increase brand awareness of the IOFF and increase public participation. Board candidates with at least 3-5 years of board member experience are encouraged to apply.

Launched in 2004, the IOFF is an ocean conservation advocacy organization using the power of storytelling through independent film to raise awareness to protect our oceans. We produce year-round programming, including a premier film festival each spring with a strong commitment to inspire the next generation of ocean conservationists by offering a Free Ocean Film Education Program for middle and high school students.

The role of an IOFF Board Director is to promote and endorse the IOFF efforts throughout the communities it serves, and act in a judicious manner and in accordance with fiduciary responsibility for the organization. As a volunteer team, the Board of Directors is responsible for using its network to advance ocean conservation by supporting the organization's pillars of ocean education. The Board of Director volunteer role commitment is a four-year term with an annual financial obligation.

We achieve this by organizing a world-class environmental film festival, securing industry thought leaders and speakers, expanding our global audience base and empowering youth with opportunities. Board members volunteer their time, skills, and knowledge to promote the foundation to their personal and professional networks, provide strategic guidance and create their own initiatives and partnerships to fundraise and increase awareness about the organization’s mission and its programs.

    ROLES & RESPONSIBILITES

    • Develop a comprehensive Membership Program designed to further engage supporters in the mission of the IOFF as an educational platform, with a long-range view of using films, panel discussions and educational opportunities for audiences of all ages through the power of independent film.
    • Establish various levels of membership fees and their corresponding benefits such as early access, discount tickets, etc.
    • Establish a Membership Program committee of volunteers to assist with implementing the membership program.
    • Recommend an appropriate membership management software program to manage member database.
    • Develop a strategy for promoting the membership program and benefits that includes communication and retention efforts.
    • Meet the objectives of a Board Member representing the Membership Program Committee and the commitments of an IOFF representative in the community at large.

    EXPERIENCE

    • Experience in the design and implementation of a non-profit membership program.
    • Working knowledge of an annual film festival with a membership program is highly desirable
    • Leadership experience in recruiting and working with a small team of dedicated volunteers to carry out the goals of the membership program.
    • Knowledge of current ocean related issues and developments in the ocean community designed to improve ocean health is highly desirable.

Interested applicants should submit a resume or LinkedIn profile link to the following IOFF representatives, please include the committee chair position you are applying for in the subject line.
