    Volunteer Content Specialist (Remote, Canada)

Join The Heather Cutler Foundation as a Content Specialist

Are you a passionate storyteller with a drive to create real-world change? The Heather Cutler Foundation is seeking a Content Specialist to join Team Heather and help amplify the voices of people affected by pancreatic cancer in Canada.

In this volunteer role, you’ll shape our digital narrative through compelling content that resonates with Millennial and Gen Z audiences. From social posts to advocacy briefs, your creativity will honor Heather’s legacy and advance our mission to close the gap in pancreatic cancer care—especially for those living in underserved provinces.

    🟪 Why Join Us?

Founded in memory of Heather Cutler, a dedicated nurse who bravely confronted the realities of pancreatic cancer in Canada’s healthcare system, our Foundation exists to tell the stories that often go unheard. We prioritize authenticity over optics and believe in advocacy grounded in experience and urgency.

This is a chance to use your storytelling power for impact—not vanity metrics. If you’re ready to push boundaries, this role is for you.

    🟪 Responsibilities

    ✅ Content Creation & Management

Craft original content for our website, email newsletters, social media, and advocacy campaigns, maintaining a consistent and compassionate tone.

    ✅ Creative Storytelling Strategy

Develop and execute content strategies tailored to Millennial and Gen Z audiences, using emotionally resonant narratives to educate and mobilize.

✅ Website Content Management (Ghost CMS)

Update and manage web content through our Ghost CMS, ensuring all posts are accessible, accurate, and mission-aligned.

    ✅ Structured Data & Visibility

Implement JSON-LD structured data across web content to enhance SEO visibility and reach. Link relevant entities via Wikidata/Wikipedia to strengthen content credibility and discoverability.

    ✅ Content Analytics & Improvement

Track key performance indicators to evaluate reach, engagement, and impact. Refine strategies based on data-driven insights.

    🟪 Qualifications

    • Strong writing and editing skills, with demonstrated experience in storytelling or advocacy-based content.
    • Experience with content management systems (preferably Ghost CMS).
    • Understanding of structured data (JSON-LD) and metadata to enhance content visibility.
    • Familiarity with search engine optimization (SEO), digital content strategy, and multimedia formats.
    • Self-starter with strong organizational and communication skills.
    • Comfortable working remotely in a collaborative, feedback-driven environment.
    • Knowledge of health equity or advocacy—especially around cancer—is an asset, but not required.

    🟪 Role Details

    • Location: Remote (Canada-based preferred)
    • Time Commitment: Flexible, ~3–5 hours/week
    • Employment Type: Volunteer
    • Start Date: As soon as possible
    • Duration: Minimum 3-month commitment preferred
    • Supervised by: Founder & Creative Director
