    Description

    Position Overview:

    Iron Village Preparatory Academy is looking for a dynamic volunteer Spanish instructor to work with students in grades 5-8. The Spanish instructor will lead two 30-minute sessions per week, helping students build proficiency in Spanish through interactive activities and conversations. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm for language learning and experience with teaching or working with middle school-aged children. This role has the potential to evolve into a paid position in the future.

    Responsibilities:

    • Conduct two 30-minute Spanish lessons per week for 5th-8th grade students
    • Develop and implement lesson plans that focus on conversation, vocabulary, and basic grammar
    • Incorporate cultural elements and real-world applications of the Spanish language into lessons
    • Use a variety of teaching tools, such as music, games, and visual aids, to support learning
    • Assess student progress and adapt lessons based on individual learning needs
    • Collaborate with other teachers to integrate Spanish into the broader curriculum
    • Attend a once-a-month planning meeting with school staff to discuss student progress and upcoming lessons

    Qualifications:

    • Fluent or native Spanish speaker
    • Experience teaching or working with middle school-aged children (5th-8th grade)
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage students
    • Ability to create a positive, encouraging learning environment
    • Previous teaching experience or a teaching certification is a plus

    Additional Information:

    • This is a volunteer position with the possibility of transitioning to a paid role
    • Two 30-minute sessions per week
    • Iron Village Prep will provide all necessary teaching supplies
    • Flexible scheduling within the school year
