Each year, hundreds of children in Middlesex County spend time in foster care. Often confused and frightened, these children find themselves caught in multiple government systems and desperately need a dedicated adult who will look out for their best interests.
By donating just a few hours a week, YOU can make a real and lasting difference in the lives of these vulnerable children. CASA of Middlesex County is seeking volunteers to assist many children who currently lack an advocate. We provide training and support to our volunteers, equipping them with the knowledge and tools they need to successfully help children in foster care. As a CASA volunteer, you will join a supportive network of individuals committed to changing lives.
CASA volunteers spend time with the child and communicate with everyone involved in the child’s life, including teachers, doctors, family members, caregivers, and others. They make recommendations to the family court to ensure the best decisions are made regarding the child's living arrangements, necessary services, education, and other critical factors.
An ideal CASA volunteer is passionate about justice, possesses the ability to think clearly and critically, and has an interest in child welfare. You must be at least 21 years old and willing to undergo background checks. Volunteers commit to working with the children they are assigned for a minimum of 18 months, and preferably for the duration of the case. CASA volunteers come from diverse backgrounds, encompassing a variety of professional, educational, and ethnic experiences. There are more than 75,000 CASA volunteers nationwide.
