Project DetailsWelcomeNST engages communities to form Neighborhood Support Teams (NSTs) to welcome refugee families. We are seeking a volunteer to form an NST for a family that is desperately seeking refuge.
Shelters are closing this month. Families have nowhere to go.
Dozens of Haitian families-here lawfully and with work authorization-are about to lose access to emergency shelter. Without immediate community support, they risk being pushed into homelessness.
We're calling on neighbors across New England to Be the Movement. Welcome the Stranger.
We are urgently seeking 6-12 month volunteers in Massachusetts and across New England (including CT, RI, NH, VT, and ME) to form an NST for a Haitian family in crisis.
What is a Neighborhood Support Team (NST)? An NST is a group of Americans who come together to welcome one refugee family to the United States and walk with them from new arrival to self-sufficiency over a period of 6-12 months. Many NSTs come from all over the country in a shared effort to serve and lift and succor those who are suffering. Forming an NST includes:
- Engaging broad community support
- Organizing your team into committees
- Raising money for the family you welcome
- Finding housing in your neighborhood
You're never in this alone. Every NST-in-formation is assigned a personal coach who's sole focus is to mentor you through the process of preparing to welcome a refugee family. To get started, just raise your hand and fill out the
