    Description

Do you speak another language? Become a Friendly Visitor for Older Adults in Queens!
Queen Community House's Friendly Visiting Program matches homebound older adults with volunteers in their community, creating intergenerational relationships in Western, Central and Southeast Queens. The program aims to reduce isolation and loneliness amongst seniors in our neighborhoods and communities.
Friendly visiting is an enriching opportunity for the volunteer to develop a meaningful friendship. Together, the older adult and volunteer can discuss shared interests, learn/teach new skills, read books, learn technology, and celebrate special holidays.
We are in need of bi-lingual volunteers who speak: Spanish, Creole, Cantonese, Greek, Italian, Hebrew, Romanian, Americal Sign Language, and French!!
Friendly visitors must be 18 and over, be open to committing to 6 months of volunteerism, and a background check is required to participate in the program. Volunteers can either call an older adult or do in-person visits upon approval.
