When you are visiting with a Brighton Hospice patient, everything you do can make a difference. Things you might not think twice about can be something they will remember and truly appreciate. Taking the time to have a meaningful conversation, listening to their stories and memories, going outside to enjoy a beautiful day, helping complete a legacy project, or simply sitting quietly while holding their hand - most often this is all that is needed to make a difference in another’s life.
Brighton Hospice is guided by our commitment to excellence in providing patient-centered care. Brighton Volunteers help us fulfill that commitment in a non-medical way. Our volunteers receive specialized training and ongoing support that prepares them to work side-by side with the hospice team. We also provide infection control education and any necessary PPE to ensure you are prepared and comfortable in your role as a patient companion.
The amount of time you give is flexible and scheduled around your availability. We do take into account your location to assign patient visits that are within or near your own community. We currently have a need for hospice companions in the Brookfield area.
Contact Emily, Volunteer Coordinator, at: 262-281-2062 or ewammer@brightonhospice.com, for more information on becoming a Hospice Companion with Brighton Hospice. You can also find us on the web at www.brightonhospice.com.
