    Description

    Africa ICT Right (AIR) is seeking a virtual Development Director. This post is a volunteer position and will lead the development of robust fundraising strategies and operational plans. The Development Director is a critical position that will support the organization to continue to mature and achieve financial security resulting in better programs and services.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop and maintain fundraising strategies and operational plans for AIR
    • Secure financial support from individuals, foundations, institutions and corporations
    • Research and identify potential donors, cultivate relationships and regularly communicate with donors
    • Prepare and deliver communications and presentations to donors and stakeholders
    • Compose concept notes, proposals, appeals and grant requests for corporate, foundations and individuals to source funding
    • Develop and track grant proposals and reports
    • Design and create fundraising communication and materials (e.g. web, print, etc…)
    • Collaborate with management and board members on select fundraising efforts
    • Oversee organization of special events and all campaigns
    • Recruit sponsors, participants, or volunteers for fundraising events
    • Secure speakers for charitable events or community meetings to increase awareness about AIR
    • Establish and maintain database for donors
    • Monitor budgets, expense reports, or other financial data for the department
    • Coordinate and lead fundraising committees to reach target budgets and maintain strategic plans
    • Direct or supervise fundraising staff, including volunteer staff members
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • BA or BS business administration, fundraising or non-profit management, philanthropy, organizational management, international development/relations, education, or a related discipline
    • 3-5+ years of experience in development / fundraising
