    Description

    Spiritual Companions for Hospice Patients

AccentCare Hospice is seeking compassionate spiritual companion volunteers to help brighten the lives of our patients. Whether you are playing spiritual music for our patients, praying with them, reading to them from a religious text, or simply providing a supportive presence, you can make a difference in the lives of hospice patients. While you are brightening our patients’ lives you might find that your life becomes brighter too!

AccentCare Hospice, formerly Seasons Hospice, serves patients and families across southeastern Michigan, including in your area. We are currently seeking new volunteers to provide spiritual companionship for our patients wherever they call home. Spiritual companions share their faith with patients of the same religious background and complement the services of our chaplains. They provide companionship, socialization, and active listening to our patients while also sharing their spirituality. Spiritual companions might also be vigil volunteers who provide supportive presence at the bedside of patients who are actively dying. These are just a few of the ways volunteers in our organization support the faith of our patients, families, and staff.

Even if you only have a few hours a month to give, we would be honored to have you join our team and support our mission of offering compassionate, personalized hospice care. Training is free and flexible to fit your schedule and you are able to choose what area you want to serve. Students aged 15 and up are encouraged to join us as administrative volunteers or can buddy with another student to make in-person visits to patients in facilities.

We look forward to hearing from you and helping you find ways to share your time with those at the end of life.
