Health Imperative's Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) Programs rely on a pool of dedicated and driven volunteers to provide the comprehensive, survivor-centered services to survivors of sexual and domestic violence.
From staffing our 24-7 confidential sexual and domestic violence hotline, to meeting survivors of sexual assault in local emergency departments, to hosting activities and events for guests at our shelter, the options for volunteers to become involved with VIP is varied, and we welcome your unique talents and experience to our program.
Our volunteers work hand-in-hand with staff to assist in providing safety, healing and comfort to survivors of sexual and relationship violence. Becoming a Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Volunteer Advocate will give you the opportunity to touch people’s lives in a very profound and meaningful way. ENROLLMENT PROCESS:
1. Complete and submit Volunteer/Intern Application
2. Complete interview with Volunteer Coordinator
3. Complete CORI/SORI form
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts requires us to perform criminal record checks (CORI) on all incoming volunteers and interns. CORI checks are submitted at the time of an applicant’s interview. In additional, all incoming volunteers and interns must consent to a Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI) background check
4. Attend our 40-hour Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Advocate Training (if applicable)

5. Volunteer Coordinator will check in periodically to ensure volunteer satisfaction and offer support
