    Description

Organization: A Home of Their Own Animal Rescue (AHOTO)

Location: Remote and/or DC Metropolitan Area

    Time Commitment: 5–10 hours/week (flexible)

    Type: Volunteer / Leadership

We are seeking a volunteer President who is ready to step into a leadership role immediately—not as a figurehead, but as a hands-on, decision-making leader. Our current leadership is stepping back and looking for someone with the vision and autonomy to take the rescue forward.

You’ll have the freedom to assess where we are, make independent decisions, and shape the strategy, structure, and operations of the rescue moving ahead. This is an incredible opportunity for someone who wants to make a real, lasting impact in animal welfare.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Oversee rescue operations and organizational direction
    • Lead and support volunteer teams and program managers
    • Set strategic goals and ensure sustainability of the rescue
    • Represent the organization in public, media, and partnerships
    • Collaborate with the Board of Directors and ensure legal compliance
    • Step in where needed — while empowering others to thrive in their roles

    Ideal Candidate

    • Passionate about animal rescue and the nonprofit mission
    • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills
    • Experience with team or program management (nonprofit or corporate)
    • Comfortable making decisions and leading with compassion
    • Organized, proactive, and able to lead with limited guidance

    Why This Role Matters

We’re at a turning point — with a strong team in place, amazing animals in our care, and ongoing community support. What we need now is a capable, compassionate leader to guide us into the future. You’ll be saving lives, building something sustainable, and empowering others along the way.
