    About the Role

    As the Volunteer Outreach and Development Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our nonprofit’s mission to serve the poor and needy in White River. This dynamic, unsalaried position offers the opportunity to coordinate existing programs, pioneer new initiatives, and lead marketing and fundraising efforts to sustain and grow our impact.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate Existing Programs: Oversee the distribution of food parcels, manage skills development workshops, and support community upliftment projects, ensuring smooth operations and meaningful impact.
    • Develop New Initiatives: Identify and implement innovative programs to address unmet needs, such as expanded skills training, youth empowerment, or health outreach, tailored to the local community.
    • Lead Marketing and Fundraising: Craft compelling stories of our work to share with global supporters, develop marketing campaigns, and build fundraising strategies to secure resources for our mission.
    • Engage with Communities: Partner with local churches, volunteers, and community leaders to foster collaboration and amplify our Christian witness.
    • Inspire and Mobilize: Act as a passionate ambassador for our nonprofit, inspiring others to join our mission through your leadership and faith.

    Who We’re Looking For

    We seek a committed Christian with a heart for serving the poor and a vision for transformative change. Ideal candidates will bring:

    • A deep faith and alignment with our Christian values, eager to share Christ’s love through service.
    • Experience or skills in nonprofit coordination, program development, marketing, or fundraising (formal experience is a plus but not required—passion and willingness to learn are key).
    • Initiative and creativity to design and launch new community programs.
    • Strong communication skills to engage diverse audiences, from local communities to international donors.
    • Ability to self-fund through personal support, church sponsorship, or mission grants (this is an unsalaried role requiring your own financial support).
    • Willingness to live in White River, South Africa, and embrace its vibrant, diverse culture.
    • Fluency in English;
    • knowledge of Afrikaans, Siswati or Shangaan is a plus.

    About Our Nonprofit

    Based in White River, South Africa, 6:8 Centrum was founded in 2020, based on Micah 6:8 and is registered with the Department of Social Development as a nonprofit organisation (NPO) and with the South African Revenue Service as a public benefit organization (PBO). 6:8 Centrum is dedicated to serving the poor through practical support and Christian love. We distribute food parcels to families in need, and dream of offering skills development to empower individuals, offering early childhood development initiatives, establishing food gardens and fostering community upliftment to break the cycle of poverty. With your help, we aim to expand our reach and deepen our impact.

    Logistics

    Location: White River, South Africa—a welcoming community with a rich cultural heritage.

    Duration: Flexible, with a preference for a commitment of at least 6–12 months to ensure continuity.

    Funding: This is an unsalaried, self-funded position. Candidates must secure their own support through personal resources, church sponsorship, crowdfunding (e.g., GoFundMe), or mission grants.

    Accommodation: Options include staying on the camp site of a local church, with local families, or independent arrangements (we’ll assist with recommendations).

    Visa: We’ll provide information to help you navigate South Africa’s volunteer visa requirements.
