    Description

Volunteer Technical Lead – Open Source Nonprofit

    About Us:

We’re a nonprofit that’s building a platform for sharing ideas for problems with anything, (kind of like a stack overflow for citizen-expert coalitions). Our stack is modern (According to our github, HTML: 45.1%, Ruby: 35.5%, SCSS: 17.4%, JavaScript: 1.8%, Shell: 0.1%, Dockerfile: 0.1%), and our approach is all about empowering teams without the endless progress metrics. We're looking for someone to take a leadership role that looks great on your resume and lets you do real, impactful work.

    What’s In It For You:

    • Leadership History: Add a solid leadership title to your resume.
    • Flexibility & Autonomy: Work remotely on your own schedule.
    • Real Impact: Your role is to empower others, to create tools which will hopefully empower everyday people globally.

    What You’ll Do:

    • Code & Contribute: Kick things off by making at least one code commit through our straightforward GitHub workflow.
    • Mentor & Onboard: Help new volunteer devs get comfortable with our process, review their pull requests, and troubleshoot issues.
    • Set Up Team Workflows: Use our task cards (with flexible "check-back" dates) to organize work. There are no harsh deadlines—just a system to signal commitment and keep projects moving.
    • Meetings: Every beginning and middle of the month we plan on hosting meetings, it's okay if you can't always make it but they're a really useful way to increase group cohesion and engagement, and as a leader, we hope you'll at least try making it to them.
    • Resources: We need to be supplying volunteers with everything they need to succeed. Manuals, outlines, and anything else that comes up. *note that resources like this can be generated by Needpedia's founder, but that your connection to volunteer devs will be instrumental in understanding what resources are needed.

    Who We’re Looking For:

    • A reliable leader who’s excited to be a part of a community that actually places people above profits.
    • Someone who values flexible, self-directed work and wants to leave a positive mark with their skills.

    Sound good to you?

Shoot us a brief note on why you’re interested and share your portfolio and/or GitHub profile. Let’s build something truly awesome together.
