Community Health Mentor Internship (San Diego, CA)
Organization: HealthCorps
Location: San Diego - hybrid (in-person + virtual)
Time Commitment: 6 - 8+ hours per week (Fall &/or Spring semester)
What You’ll DoAs a HealthCorps intern, you’ll mentor middle and high school students through Teens Make Health Happen wellness clubs. You’ll help teens learn about mental, physical, and nutritional health in fun and engaging ways.
You’ll:
Lead health clubs at 2 - 3 schools
Teach health lessons using provided materials (we train you!)
Build relationships with students and school partners
Assess needs and track your impact
Host fun events like Café O Yea demos
Create content for social media and regional events
Serve as a role model and health advocate in your community
Hands-on public health & education experience
Professional training & mentorship
College credit (varies by school)
Networking with health leaders
A college student or recent college graduate (any major welcome-public health, psychology, education, etc.)
Passionate about youth, health, and making a difference
Comfortable speaking in front of groups
Reliable and available 6 - 8+ hours/week
Able to travel to local San Diego schools
You may lift up to 15 lbs (light materials)
Internship is hybrid (mostly in-person at school sites)
