    Description

    Summary:

    The Vice President works closely with the President to project a strong, positive image of Orisha Wholeness’ mission, activities, and services to all stakeholders. This leadership role supports the President in managing the organization's day-to-day operations, with a primary focus on coordinating programs, services, and events that advance the organization's mission. Key areas of responsibility include: 1) Resource development and maintenance, 2) Program planning and management, 3) Community and public relations, 4) Personnel management, 5) Board liaison (in the absence of the President), 6) Fiscal management

    Resource Development and Maintenance

    • Assist in researching and preparing grant proposals and funding applications.
    • Support the development and stewardship of a donor base for both financial and in-kind contributions.
    • Help establish and maintain a donor tracking and acknowledgment system.
    • Collaborate with the Board of Directors on fundraising events and activities.

    Agency and Program Planning

    Short-Term Responsibilities

    • Support and lead staff and volunteers to ensure effective operation across all sites and events.
    • Aid in planning, organizing, and directing organizational programs and operations.
    • Ensure timely filing of forms for permits, memberships, licenses, and other requirements.
    • Prepare quarterly reports on program performance.
    • Oversee organizational and program compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
    • Serve as liaison to the Board and senior leadership in the Executive Director’s absence.

    Long-Term Responsibilities

    • Assist in the development and maintenance of tracking systems for volunteers and participants.
    • Contribute to strategic planning efforts (1-year, 5-year, and 10-year goals).
    • Monitor and evaluate organizational progress toward stated goals and objectives.
    • Support the President and senior management in budget development, monthly and quarterly financial reviews, and forecast updates for all locations.

    Qualifications for Vice President Position

    • Possession of a solid understanding of finance and operations practices for a not-for-profit organization a plus
    • Possess the ability to maintain an organizational environment that attracts, keeps, and motivates a diverse staff of top-quality people
    • Experience developing partnerships, building teams and resolving conflicts
    • Experience in an educational leadership role, preferably in a diverse urban setting
    • Ability to convene, collaborate and network with the community at large
    • Previous experience working within a Nonprofit organization
    • Experience in Education, Education Administration, Nonprofit Management or other related field
    • Computer savvy (Word, Excel and Outlook)
