    Description

    The U.S. Blind Tennis Association (USBTA) is seeking several passionate and visionary Board Members to support our dynamic nonprofit organization into its next phase of growth. As a critical part of the USBTA leadership team, all board members will work closely with other Board of Director members, and stakeholders to further our mission of empowering individuals who are blind or low-vision through the sport of tennis.

    About Us: USBTA is dedicated to providing opportunities for blind and low-vision athletes to participate in tennis, promote wellness, and foster a sense of community and inclusion. We offer resources, advocacy, and programs that support athletes of all levels, from beginners to competitive players, and aim to expand the reach and impact of blind tennis nationwide.

    Position Overview:

    The Director of Education and Curriculum is responsible for collaborating with the USBTA Executive Committee to establish best-practice adaptive and accessible materials to enhance participation in the sport for athletes, coaches, organizers and volunteers.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Create curricula including coaching manuals for a variety of athletes, a school curriculum focused on all current state schools for the Blind, introduction kit for associations for the blind and tennis clubs.
    • Public speaking opportunities to promote the curricula at NFB and ACB National conventions, State Chapters, schools, PE conferences.
    • Maintain an online repository and database of curricula-related work

    Qualifications:

    • A strong commitment to the mission of the USBTA and to improving the lives of individuals who are blind or low-vision.
    • Proven leadership experience, preferably in a nonprofit or organizational setting (Board or executive leadership experience a plus).
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
    • Understanding of nonprofit governance, financial oversight, and strategic planning strongly preferred.
    • Familiarity with adaptive sports and/or blindness-related organizations is a plus, but not required.

    Time Commitment: This is a volunteer position. The time commitment will vary depending on the organization's needs, but generally includes monthly board meetings, strategic planning sessions, fundraising events, and occasional travel for key events.
