    Description

    NOVA-FR Board Member

Are you passionate about combating food insecurity and reducing food waste? At Northern Virginia Food Rescue (NOVA-FR), we are seeking dedicated and dynamic individuals to join our Board of Directors.

As a board member, you will play a critical role in guiding our innovative network of donors, volunteers, and distribution partners to improve food resiliency and accessibility throughout Northern Virginia. Your leadership and expertise will help us leverage technology to rescue and redistribute food, reducing hunger and greenhouse gas emissions. By attending board meetings, participating in committees, and supporting our initiatives, you will directly impact the lives of those in need while fostering sustainable practices in our community.

If you are committed to integrity, reliability, and making a tangible difference, we invite you to become part of our mission to create a more equitable and sustainable future for all.

Q: What is the time commitment for board members? Board members are expected to attend monthly meetings and participate in at least one committee. Additionally, they should volunteer at least six times per year and support fundraising efforts.

Q: Do I need prior board experience? While prior experience is helpful, it is not required. We value diverse perspectives and experiences.

Q: What skills or qualifications are you looking for in a board member? We seek individuals with diverse skills and backgrounds, including but not limited to finance, marketing, fundraising, law, and community outreach. A passion for our mission and a commitment to active participation are the most important qualifications.

Q: How long is the term for a board member? Board members serve a regular term of three years, with the possibility of serving up to three consecutive terms. After fulfilling their term limit, members may be appointed again in a later non-consecutive term.

Q: Where can I find additional details about board member commitments and conflict of interest policies? For comprehensive information about board member commitments, please review our Board Member Annual Commitment Document. Additionally, detailed guidelines on conflict of interest policies can be found in our Conflict of Interest Policy Document.
