    Description

The Camp Videographer is responsible for thoughtfully capturing video footage that reflects the mission, heart, and healing spirit of Camp Good Mourning! This role requires both technical skill and emotional sensitivity, as footage will showcase campers' experiences during a bereavement weekend while honoring their emotional safety and privacy. The final content may be used for CGM!’s promotional materials, fundraising campaigns, social media, and internal reflection.

    Core Responsibilities:

    • Capture Camp Footage:
      • Record candid, scheduled, and key moments throughout the weekend (e.g., opening/closing ceremonies, talent show, recreational activities, memorial moments, group bonding, etc.).
      • Focus on telling a meaningful, respectful story of the weekend through visual content.
      • Use a discreet approach—capturing footage without disrupting the flow of emotional or therapeutic moments.
    • Respect Grief Sensitivities and Privacy:
      • Always prioritize the emotional safety of campers. Do not film children or volunteers who are visibly upset, grieving, or in private moments of reflection without prior approval.
      • Follow CGM!'s guidelines regarding where and when filming is appropriate—especially during grief groups and memorial activities.
      • Only film those with completed photo/video release forms.
    • Collaborate with Leadership Team:
      • Work closely with the Executive Director, Program Director, and Camp Photographer to identify priority footage and storytelling goals.
      • Attend daily leadership check-ins as needed to stay aligned with the schedule and emotional tone of the camp.
    • Organize and Deliver Raw and Edited Footage:
      • Upload and organize all footage clearly and securely at the conclusion of camp.
      • Optionally, assist in creating short, respectful highlight reels or thank-you videos (with prior agreement).
      • Clearly label scenes/events and coordinate with CGM! staff to identify which footage may be shared externally.
    • Maintain Equipment:
      • Bring, set up, and maintain all necessary video equipment (e.g., camera, mics, stabilizers, batteries, memory cards, etc.).
      • Ensure backup options are available and all media is safely stored.

    Ideal Qualities:

    • Experienced in video recording and editing (event/documentary-style preferred)
    • Emotionally mature and sensitive to the needs of grieving children
    • Calm, discreet, and respectful presence
    • Strong communicator and collaborator
    • Organized in file handling and delivery
    • Familiarity with basic video editing software (Final Cut, Premiere Pro, etc.) a plus
    • Committed to Camp Good Mourning!’s mission of supporting grieving children with compassion and dignity
