    Description

    Instructional Designer is expected to put in a minimum of 5 hours per week and be responsive to emails within 36 hours.

    Position Summary

    The Instructional Designer will collaborate with the Education department to create audiovisual material that reflects STW’s strategic goals and campaigns. The role requires the creation of instructional videos with compelling narration, image flow, background music, and captions, among other features.

    Department: Education

    Required Qualifications:

    • Proficiency with at least one professional video-editing platform (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or iMovie)
    • Working knowledge of essential audio-editing techniques (noise reduction, EQ, compression) and video-editing tasks (captions, lower thirds, basic motion graphics)
    • Familiarity with copyright, Creative Commons, and public-domain media usage, including proper attribution practices
    • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet agreed-upon deadlines
    • Reliable computer and internet access suitable for multi-track video projects

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Prior experience producing educational or training videos for commercial or nonprofit release.
    • Background in Media Technology, Film Production, Audio Engineering, Instructional Design, or a related field (degree or equivalent professional experience).
    • Familiarity with royalty-free music libraries and sound-design best practices.

    Duties:

    • Project planning – Work with Education volunteers to define learning objectives, project scope, and release timelines
    • Content sourcing – Locate and verify copyright-free or appropriately licensed images, videos, and audio files; maintain documentation of usage rights
    • Production & post-production – Record voice-overs as needed; edit footage, apply titles, transitions, and captions; mix and master audio for clarity and loudness consistency
    • Quality assurance – Ensure all deliverables meet accessibility guidelines (accurate captions, adequate contrast, clear narration) and adhere to Save The Water brand standards
    • File management – Organize project files, exports, and version histories in the
    • team’s shared drive and provide clear hand-off notes
