    Description

    Become a Volunteer Reading Tutor

    This opportunity is Pinal County wide in Arizona. Virtual options also available.

    In person tutors will be on site at schools (depending on your location)

    We look for older adults 50+

    Only other qualifications: United States resident, high school education, Able to pass background check and obtain a fingerprint clearance card

    As a reading tutor for Achieve Pinal Experience Corps you will work one on one with 2nd or 3rd grade students. You become a consistent source of confidence boosting, skills growing and positive experience for these students.

    We ask a commitment of 6-8 months

    Schedules are two days a week (usually Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday)

    Each session is 30 minutes each with these young students, working with up to 4 students at separate times. So each day you could be volunteering for up to 3 hours , 6 hours per week.

    Multiple hours of training to prepare you will be provided pre-service

    You will have support throughout the volunteer experience

    We are proud program partners of AARP Foundation. They provide the structured, evidence based literacy programming used to help students become more fluent readers and therefore have a more successful future
