    Description

Choose a time convenient for you to be a companion for a hospice patient. Our patients love having visitors, and your hour (or two! or three!) will brighten a patient's day! Chat, read, play music, reminisce, bring your registered therapy dog, or just share time together quietly.

You may select the patients you wish to see, as well as determine the times you visit--whatever fits YOUR schedule. This is a great opportunity to earn volunteer hours for students or to build your resume!

    WHAT VOLUNTEERS CAN DO

    • Visit patients in a facility or in their homes for companionship support
    • Provide a short break to family caregivers
    • Take their certified therapy dogs to visit patients
    • Bake birthday cakes for patients
    • Assist patients with light housekeeping and simple errands

Through their caring, compassion, and time given to hospice patients, our volunteers continue to make an invaluable contribution to community, personal emotional and spiritual growth, and greater appreciation for life.

Training provided. Background check, fingerprinting, drug test, & TB screening required (at Gentiva's expense). Volunteers must be at least 18 to visit patients.
