    Description

    Bird Care/Aviary Cleanup Volunteer

The rescued pigeons at our rescue facility in Maple Park need you! Most of the birds are survivors of the pigeon racing industry that leaves 60% of the birds being "raced" (identifiable by bands on their legs) lost, injured, starving, and dying.

We are looking for people who enjoy hard but rewarding work and the satisfaction that comes from watching the birds munch on their fresh seed, bathe in their fresh water and relax in their clean home when your shift is done.

    Tasks include:

    • Providing fresh food and water
    • Swapping eggs with fake eggs
    • Monitoring bird health
    • Sweeping
    • Power washing trays and floors
    • Washing dishes
    • Assisting with special projects

Volunteers less than 16 years old must be accompanied at all times by a parent/guardian/adult.

GLPR can provide mileage reimbursement if needed.

We have opportunities for all abilities. Please see our other listings.
