About Vecinos Unidos

Vecinos Unidos makes a difference in the lives of students in grades 1-6 through homework assistance and summer enrichment programs-and we’ve been doing so since 1997! We provide free academic assistance and enrichment to elementary students who come from non-English speaking homes and have fallen behind their peers. With our caring volunteers to guide them, students experience improved academic success and greater confidence in their ability to learn and achieve.

Role Overview

Vecinos Unidos is seeking an At-Large Board Member to provide leadership and direct support for our Academic Assistance program. This is a hands-on board position for someone passionate about education, equity, and community service.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site leadership for Academic Assistance operations (Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, 4:00-6:30 pm).
• Support and oversee volunteers and staff members during program hours.
• Attend and actively contribute to monthly board meetings.
• Coordinate and lead special projects that strengthen programs and operations.
• Serve as a visible ambassador for Vecinos Unidos in the community.

Commitment

Board members serve a renewable term, attend monthly meetings, and actively contribute time and expertise.

• Wednesday Shift: 16:30 to 18:00 EST
• Tuesday Shift: 16:30 to 18:00 EST
• Thursday Shift: 16:30 to 18:00 EST
