    Description

This is a great opportunity for students or retirees, or others with free time, in fields like accounting, management, paralegal/legal, insurance unwriting, and other fields where getting the complex data from a bunch of sources onto the right forms and documents is very much the core of the effort. Engineers might like this too, but this is definitely more paperwork and administration, and less math and application.

We have a lot of 'complex' paperwork to work through, some to support the organization directly, other elements to optimize our operations We're looking for some clever, creative, and detail-oriented folks to help us with the technical, compliance, grant-related, and other paperwork and processes.

Here are some of the opportunities that would be of great help:

    • Compliance paperwork with state and federal for the various filings we need to undertake as an NFP.
    • Grant research, and potentially writing if you're interested. Our director has a fair amount of grant-writing experience, but limited time to research grant opportunities.
    • Setting up distributor and procurement accounts with our suppliers. This helps us save our member sites and schools money, but some of these applications are as involved as taxes or a mortgage.
    • Policy, procedure, and process organization and refinement. We can write 'a' policy when it comes up, but we're getting buried in tracking what we need to address, post, and what's due for revision.

You're welcome to work with us in person in our Wheeling, IL office if that's of interest to you, but much of this work can be done remotely as well.

The value of this work is all very high, though how it applies varies. Grants directly allow us to add capacity and services for our schools and other clients. Supplier accounts and management lets us acquire equipment at lower costs and higher quantities, reducing the resources needed by our clients (so they can spend them on mission). Compliance keeps the doors open, but in helping with that, also gives our team time to focus on helping sites and our mission work.

We appreciate your interest, and if you have questions, please reach out, we're happy to discuss these and other opportunities to volunteer!
