    Description

    Volunteer for ESL and Citizenship Classes

    You'll join a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting our refugee clients in the greater San Diego area. Our ESL and Citizenship Classes are uniquely positioned to address the language barriers that keep immigrant families from reaching their bigger, brighter future.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assist ESL teachers and adult ESL students in in-person or online ESL classes.
    • Work with ESL students 1:1 or in small groups on provided assignments.
    • Facilitate a conversation with a small group of students on a provided topic.
    • Make copies of ESL worksheets if needed.
    • Assist with testing ESL students.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Reliability & Consistency: Show up on time when scheduled or let teachers know

    in advance about any changes in the schedule.

    • Flexibility: Work with different ESL level students on different skills (speaking,

    reading, or writing).

    • Cultural Sensitivity: We serve a very diverse group of students.
    • Positive Attitude: Some experience teaching ESL is a plus, but not necessary.
