Be a Voice for Incarcerated and Underserved Youth
Join us to advocate for at-risk and incarcerated youth in San Mateo County.
The Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Commission has an open positions for adult and youth commissioners (ages 14 to 21) who live in San Mateo County. We especially encourage adults and youth who have been impacted either directly or indirectly by the juvenile justice system to apply.
The Commission is a 15-member volunteer organization with oversight responsibilities. We report to the state of California and the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors.
Commissioners’ responsibilities include: monthly meeting attendance, (we have resumed meeting in person, currently at College of San Mateo), project participation, and annual inspections of juvenile detention facilities. Expected time commitment is 4 hours/week, but many Commissioners invest much more time into our many advocacy efforts.
Please contact Vice-Chair, Membership Whitney Genevro at wgenevro@gmail.com and visit San Mateo JJDPC at https://probation.smcgov.org/juvenile-justice-delinquency-prevention-commission for more information.
We ask that applicants attend two monthly meetings before applying. Meetings are on the last Tuesday of each month, except December, from 5:15pm to 7:15pm.
Thank you for your interest!
